Deadline was one of the signature bands of the early DC Hardcore scene. The band formed in the summer of 1981 and quickly recorded a demo, three tracks of which were culled for use on the Dischord, FLEX YOUR HEAD, sampler.
After playing a number of memorable shows through the following year with such DC fellow travellers as Faith, Scream and Void, as well as opening for Flipper at the old 9:30 club, the band recorded one more session at Inner Ear in August of 1982. Almost immediately after the recording, Deadline disbanded and that eleven song tape languished unreleased for seven years, becoming one of the great lost gems of the golden age of DC punk.
In 1989 the final Deadline session finally saw the light of day, released by the Peterbilt label as the one-sided 12" called 8/2/82 but it quickly sold out its 1000 print pressing and once again the songs were unavailable. Now 25 years after its initial recording, 8/2/82 is being re-released, along with Rain's La Vache Qui Rit, in conjunction with Dischord Records as a fully re-mastered CD with a three panel letter-pressed sleeve modeled on the manila envelope artwork of the original Peterbilt vinyl 12”.
