This show got me thinking about the song 'Two Beats Off' and I wrote something about it. I hope you find it interesting.

This was a benefit for Steunpunt Zetten (support point Zetten), which was a support group and activist group working on behalf of young people who complained that they suffered abuse of various kinds from a psychiatrist in charge of the residential youth care institution (Heldringstichting) in Zetten.
Complaints were originally published in 1974 but it took until 1990 for the psychiatrist Theo Finkensieper to be investigated, charged and sentenced to 6 years in prison. He was sentenced on 30 May 1990. Finkensieper's appeal was heard in October 1990 and rejected.
'When Steunpunt Zetten sought publicity from 24 April 1990, other reports of sexual abuse within youth care institutions came in almost immediately, such as in the youth care institution De Dreef in Wapenveld, where there was sexual abuse of boys. Ultimately, seven employees were also convicted here in 1993'.

This recording contains an extra strong dose of Fugazi, which is just what I need these days.

It may be my imagination but it sounds to me like several of the songs might include contributions by members of The Ex, who co-headlined the event. It sounds like there is a bit of cello or double bass on Two Beats Off, for instance.

Speaking of Two Beats Off, Guy sings a interesting-sounding intro in French (challenging both English and Dutch speakers!), which starts with 'au clare de la lune'. Still working on deciphering the rest, I had to ask for help as my French is basic and rusty.

The drums. THE DRUMS. So clear, everything sounds clear, and the drums in particular sound wonderful.

Guy dedicated 'Runaway Return' to Paul Weller, who was apparently due to play Paradiso in the near future at the time of this concert.
This is no coincidence as the song references 'the young idea' from 'In The City' by the Jam.

Highly recommended!
