Worth noting is the impromptu jam leading into Waiting Room as well as, at the time, rarities Nice New Outfit (performed merely 7 times in 1999 and only once during this West Coast leg of the tour), Exit Only (7 times in 1999), Guilford Fall (just 5 live rendering in 1999) or Bulldog Front (played only 4 times in 1999 and only once during this leg of the tour), which includes the “you’re such a beautiful child” line.
Guy has been so kind to elaborate that Bulldog Front might have well been the first song he used to do some lyrical referencing, “sometimes in that song I would interject some lines in the breakdown section like ‘you’re such a beautiful child, you’re so young and so winsome, you drive me wild etc.’ — lines that I took from the Blow Monkeys song ‘Beautiful Child’. I did that I guess as an aside to myself because they were a pretty obscure band in the US and not one people would probably associate with us in any way but I always liked them… they had an amazing bass player, some interesting politics and a love of T-Rex and soul so they were up my alley. It was a way of baiting the focus points of the song as well. Once we were on tour and on the ferry to Ireland I saw their bass player standing in the foyer. I’ve always regretted not saying hello to him and expressing my respect.”
An easy-going Sweet and Low probably is my highlight of this show, the dual guitars swelling, reverberating left and right after 3:18 minutes into the song.

Please Note: Available recordings have been mastered to correct for volume shifts, drop outs, etc. but some sonic anomalies will still exist, especially early in the set when the mix is being settled. The band has rated each show for sound quality and set the general price of a download at $5 per show. If you have a different price in mind feel free to utilize the alternative pricing option.
Only ever Fugazi show in Victorville, CA, which appears to have been added to the 1999 West Coast string of shows once this leg of the tour hit full stride.
It is important to note that the mix only settles well into the set, actually about 2:30 minutes into Smallpox Champion, and that both Guy’s vocals and Ian’s guitar are hardly discernible before. This is a drawback considering it is merely a short set of 20 songs.
Even after this, the audio is not really great yet does reflect the acoustics and settings of what appears to have been a rather small venue (at least the photo above hints at this, I did not manage to dig up any specifics relating to the Fly Theater).
Banter includes introductory complaints about a local Chinese food joint, Ian addressing some violent dancing on a number of occasions (cf. Suggestion), and someone alluding to Fugazi being rockstars, which elicites a bit of sarcasm from Guy before the band appropriately launches into Target (note the alternate lyrics “you’re a rockstar” replacing “you’re a target”).
The set features work off of End Hits (5), Red Medicine (2), In on the Kill Taker (2), Steady Diet of Nothing (3), Repeater (3), as well as the Furniture (1), Margin Walker (1) and 7 Songs (3) EPs.
