You have reached the only Fugazi stopover in Austria on the 1988 Euro tour. The place of choice is the Kapu, an urban cultural centre in Linz. More specifically, it is a meeting point that seems to have started out by promoting punk and hardcore shows in 1985.
However, a couple of decades on, the Kapu appears to be a whole lot more. According to its website, "the kapu is a place of refuge for different styles of music, like noise-rock-hiphop-crust-jazz-electronic-metal... and running a small cinema, a recording studio, organizing lectures and exhibitions. A combination of voluntary working people, professional working and a bunch of enthusiasm makes this place the best club on earth."
Interestingly, it only has a capacity of "10 to 200 humans and a maximum of 7 dogs" yet it welcomed numerous acclaimed artists and bands through the years, including Dälek, Don Caballero, The Ex, Flipper, Fugazi, Girls Against Boys, GSYBE!, Green Day, Hitch, Knut, Lemonheads, Locust, Melt Banana, Nina Nastasia, Nirvana, and Shudder To Think to name a few.
Even though the sound quality of this particular recording is far from great, the vocals sound suppressed and everything else somewhat crumpled, I feel this in itself should not put anyone interested off, since this is the most fun show of the 1988 Euro tour I have heard so far.

From what I gather, only a small number of people seems to have attended the gig, but they do make the intimate experience count, urging the band on and even throwing their own little party as everyone teams up to scream "Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on, I Say!" in unison at the top of their lungs at one point.
And while the audience is hungry for a good time and a night to remember, the band is absolutely ferocious as the foursome burns through its entire repertoire, which literally forces them to eventually stop playing because there is no more.
Well, I guess they still could have done Joe #1 or And the Same, yet maybe the band did not get around to rehearsing these songs before flying off to Europe. Even still, a total of 19 complete songs gets played, bringing it up to par with the 10/31/88 Bielefeld (FLS #0065) and 11/24/88 London (FLS #0082) shows.
Highlights are plenty (The Word and KYEO being absolute favourites), and for those keeping track, it can be mentioned that this recording also features the first performance of Turn Off Your Guns on the old continent, as well as a "link track" which has eventually been released (in more elaborated form) as part of the Instrument soundtrack in March 1999. Promises is once again reduced to the partial instrumental which can also be heard on the 10/15/88 and 11/24/88 gigs in Hoorn (FLS #0054) and London (FLS #0082) respectively.

One of my favorite 1988 shows. Great set list.
