Please Note: Available recordings have been mastered to correct for volume shifts, drop outs, etc. but some sonic anomalies will still exist, especially early in the set when the mix is being settled. The band has rated each show for sound quality and set the general price of a download at $5 per show. If you have a different price in mind feel free to utilize the alternative pricing option.
First out of only two times Fugazi descended on the city of Nagoya, Japan (the second time being in 1996). This one right here is another intimate, straightforward gig which played out in front of a select audience of some 160 people.
Ian’s vocals are notably low in the mix the first couple of songs, and the low end frequencies a bit murky. It takes the fun out of it for me personally, but once everything balances out (Reclamation), the sound quality of the recording is really good and highly enjoyable.
Note that this Nagoya recording includes a bunch of songs the band performed only once on this Japanese leg of the 1993 tour: Brendan #1, Styrofoam, Dear Justice Letter and Bulldog Front.
The version of Sweet and Low presented here, while a recurrent 1993 set closer, is memorable as well, since it clocks in at about 7:17 minutes (the studio version is just 3:36 minutes) as Brendan and Joe lock into a repititive, pounding rhythm while Guy and Ian feed off of guitar reverb for about 3 minutes before eventually pulling the plug.
The Repeater album is quite well represented this time (7 tracks), only topped by In on the Kill Taker (9), with Steady Diet of Nothing (2), and the debut 7 Songs EP (2) completing the set of 20 songs total. Once again, the Margin Walker EP does not make the cut.
On a side note, the outro appears to catch a couple of Baby, You’re Right lines, but I am not quite sure by which performer.. .
