Shortly after having returned from a two and a half month European tour, and following up on the wave of protests and events on US soil earlier that year (see for instance Fugazi live @ Hollywood Palladium, January 24, 1992), Fugazi - joined by Bikini Kill and a number of speakers from various civil rights and equality movements - stepped up once more to address the issue of civil rights and the influence of the Supreme Court and the doings of the Reagan / Bush administrations in this regard.
This recording captures Fugazi's protest performance (unfortunately, there comments or remarks of the speakers are not included) and is set at Capitol Plaza outside of the US Supreme Court, right before a punk percussion protest leading up to the Court was to take place.
Although all instruments are a bit low in the mix in general and there are some sonic anomalies to be noted (for instance, note that Blueprint is cut up briefly and feels disjointed because of this), I enjoyed this recording and will return to it in the future.
The vocals, and especially Guy, do sound great (although strained in parts, undoubtedly because of the taxing string of European shows) and the set list offers some nice surprises, like a very early appearance of Sweet and Low into Blueprint, which is a great way to start off the show.
Overall, this is a short performance, but one definitely worth checking out. Footage of the protest gig can be found through Youtube, although cut up in separate clips.
