Fugazi in Knoxville, Tennessee, playing the second to last gig of the December 1999 US tour. The recording fades in with the band already well into Ex-Spectator instrumental. There's only a little mix settling going on before the this turns into a complete delight to listen to. Considering the audio, this is another example of the generally excellent sounding recordings from 1999. The stereo field is fully utilized, everything is audible and in balance. I also really like the added effects, as they are not exaggerated, but instead build the overall atmosphere.

So, we miss any possible opening remarks, but the music rolls on. Almost right off the bat there's the personal favorite Latin Roots flowing into a powerful Facet Squared. Plus we get a rare performance of Foreman's Dog, so a very nice start indeed.

The highlight for me is the amazing mid-show flow all the way from Birthday Pony through to Recap Modotti. Magnificent work, and definitely classic live Fugazi.

Oh is very bombastic here, as the double drums throw in a lot of cool jamming. Jerry Busher once again adds a lot of power and nice flourishes to the overall sound. Later we get a heavy Shut The Door, which was a rare treat those days.

This is a typical show from 1999 regarding how the band draws songs from all eras, although the setlist isn't as massive as some others from the same tour. The encore is a great example of this variety, as it includes a delightfully snappy and uptempo Smallpox Champion with another rare track Repeater closing the evening in an explosive manner.

As I dared to expect, this is another recommendable recording for it's excellent sound, a few rare tracks and the band's energetic performance.

I was at this show with my friends. I remember there being some issue between the band and the person running the stage lights. My impression was that the band did not want the lights moving and flashing in their faces. I think MacKaye gave the throat-slash gesture to someone off-stage. It was pretty funny. -- I'm from a town about 45 minutes east of Knoxville. I had been playing drums in a band with my friends all that year. We had actually participated in a Battle-of-the-Bands at this venue a couple months earlier. Of course, we lost but it was amusing to us being on the same stage as Slayer and Sick Of It All who had played a huge show the night before. -- Our band broke up a few weeks after we saw Fugazi together. This was the second and last time I saw them.
