I saw Fugazi here in Watsonville, then we drove up to Berkeley, then saw them again in Sac with Tiger Trap. Great shows. Saw the typical "is this anyone's shoe" action at one of them, I think the Watsonville one. May have been mine but it was a long time ago!

Strong show all around. Promises, Burning, and KYEO are highlights for me.

There is a bit of an echo on the vocals, and because of this the performance is less in your face than it could have been. Yet otherwise I very very much enjoyed the mix of this recording.
As to the performance, the band simply is on fire on this particular night, and delivers an incinerating, virtually flawless show. It had me shaking my ass off and singing out loud, since it is the kind of performance that draws the listener in immediately. Well, atleast after some mandatory 1993 introductory remarks regarding the tediousness of crowd surfing.
Some of my personal highlights include the early By You instrumental, the longer than usual introduction to Merchandise which gives Ian ample oppurtunity to sink his guitar hooks deep into your flesh, an engaging version of Reclamation, another unique and significantly improvised performance of Two Beats Off (the mix on this one actually is pitch-perfect), a simmering rendition of Burning (listen closely as Guy literally snarls a couple of lines), a soaring version of Rend It, a blazing take on Instrument, and the classic yet never tiring combo of Long Division into Blueprint. A fast paced yet precise KYEO (Brendan and Joe are a gift from the Gods) blows the lid off and brings the show to a worthy close, as pleas for encores are not met.
Add several humorous intermezzos as Ian and Guy counter narrow-minded or plain stupid utterances by some attendees in a masterly fashion and you have a show worth your time, attention and currency. A true gem in my book.

My buddies in Hedgehog were so excited to play with Fugazi. First time we didn't have to drive up to Oakland or Berkeley to see them.
