Smart Went Crazy - Con Art 20th Anniversary Edition

This is a limited edition 2xLP reissue of Smart Went Crazy's second and final album, Con Art, which was first released in 1997 by Dischord. The original vinyl version of the record was a single LP and, due to space constraints, omitted a number of songs that were included on the CD. This reissue has been remastered from the original source tapes, pressed to clear vinyl, and also restores the complete track listing (with a few extras thrown in).

It's All True is an "opera-in-suspension" developed by the New York-based ensemble Object Collection. Created by composer Travis Just and writer/director Kara Feely, the work is formed entirely from incidental music, text, and sounds drawn from Fugazi's Live Series archive (none of the band's actual songs are included). Available on CD and LP via Slip Records.

Object Collection - Prisons For Profit

A 7" single, Prisons For Profit is the companion release to Object Collection's It's All True and features three songs that were not included on the album.

This LP compiles the first two cassette EPs by Washington, D.C. quartet, Big Hush. The music draws some inspiration from '90s shoegaze/indie-pop, but the songs also have a wobbly/ungridded sense of rhythm that's very much unique to the band (in a cool way). Features members Pygmy Lush and Flasher. Recommended!

Bless - Yr Always On TV

New 3-song single by Bless, which is made up of folks from Cool People, Flasher, and Big Hush. Excellent jittery and manic garage/pop songs that at times recall early Devo. Also recommended!

The six-song debut EP by Baltimore-area singer/songwriter Lindsey Jordan (aka Snail Mail), who was still a high school student at the time of this recording. Teenage melancholy and open tuned guitars. "Thinning" is the "hit," but they're all keepers. Originally released last year on cassette, the EP has now been pressed on vinyl by Sister Polygon Records.

Two new songs by Washington, D.C. trio Flasher. A forward move from their previous EP in terms of arrangement and home studio know-how. A-side is quick and catchy while the flip goes long and woozy.

Comet Gain - City Fallen Leaves

Comet Gain's fifth album. Originally released on CD in 2005, M'Lady's has now pressed the record to vinyl for the first time ever as a 2xLP. Also quite excellent.

The Sorts - Six Plus

The sixth and final album by the mellow Washington, D.C.-based funk/post-rock outfit, The Sorts. Formed in 1994, the band was anchored by guitarist Josh LaRue (HiM), drummer Chris Farrall (Hoover), and bassist Stuart Fletcher. Originally released only on CD in 2003, Bcore has now given the record its first-ever vinyl pressing.

Regulator Watts - The Mercury LP

Guitarist Alex Dunham's post-Hoover trio with Arief Sless-Kitain and Cret Wilson. Mercury was first released as a four song 12" EP in 1996 and then later expanded into a full-length CD that compiled a number of the band's singles and rarities. It's now on LP for the first time courtesy of Bcore.

The third full-length by Washington, D.C.-based power-pop outfit, Title Tracks. Founded in 2008 by John Davis (Q and Not U), the band has released two full-length records on Ernest Jennings as well as a two song single on Dischord. Flasher - S/T

Originally released on cassette earlier this year, Sister Polygon has now reissued Flasher’s seven song debut EP on vinyl. Formed in 2015, Flasher is Taylor Mulitz (Priests), Daniel Saperstein (Bless), and Emma Baker (Big Hush). Excellent minimalist post-punk that channels Wire as well as Teenbeat heavies like Unrest. Recommended.

Oswego - S/T

Hamburg’s Arctic Rodeo Recordings has reissued the complete works of Oswego on double LP. Oswego was formed in Washington, D.C. in 1999 and included members of Kerosene 454, Most Secret Method, and Vita Bruno. The group released two records on Bcore Disc – the Just Getting Warmed Up EP (2000) and a self-titled full-length (2002). This double LP reissue collects both discs and marks the first time that these songs have been made available on vinyl.

Washington, D.C.-based trio Sunwolf has a new LP, Follow The Dreamers , which is out now via their own label, El Rey Records. Though the project started as a solo outlet for bassist/singer Rob “Kalani” Tifford, the band – which also includes singer/guitarist Tom Bunnell (Felt Letters) and drummer Jerry Busher (Fugazi, French Toast) -- has since grown into a more collaborative affair. Fountainsun Music Today

Music Today is the debut record by Fountainsun, a duo featuring Daniel Higgs (Lungfish) and Fumie Ishii. Recorded last year in Big Sur, California, the record collects 11 songs – some drawing on simple folk melodies, others guided by Higgs’ epic poetry. Music Today is surreal and heady, but surprisingly intimate. This version of the record has been pressed on translucent green vinyl.

V/A Pre-Moon Syndrome

Originally released in 1989, this record compiles live tracks recorded during the week-long Pre-Moon Syndrome concert series, which took place at DC Space in September of that same year. The LP includes contributions from Lungfish, Velocity Girl, Go Team, Whorl, Unrest, among others. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit We Are Family DC.
