They’re a two-piece band from Chicago with a massive rock sound and some pretty powerful vocals. This is a great sounding record, and it’s not studio magic either. I saw them play down in Austin a few months ago, and their live show was fantastic. Angie Mead has an enviable guitar sound – deliberately gritty and blown out (without being too gritty and blown out). Top-billing (for me, of course) goes to the last song: “Taunt”. Total scorcher.
I should add … Beth Hoeckel’s cover art is a perfect fit for the overall mood of this record.
