New Hardbound Edition Of Banned in DC

09.28.26

Now available is the first ever hardbound edition of Banned in DC. It includes high-resolution full-color scans of the original flyers and a few added details.  Assembled by Cynthia Connolly, Leslie Clague, and Sharon Cheslow and originally released in December of 1988, Banned in DC collects hundreds of photos, flyers, and stories documenting the DC punk scene of the mid-’80s.

The intention of the book – one of the first to be published on punk in the US -- was to capture the feeling and energy of the movement, using stories from the many people who were involved. Images of many of the bands of that time can be found in this book: Minor Threat, Faith, Marginal Man, Scream, Red C, Bad Brains, Nuclear Crayons, Insurrection, Hate from Ignorance, G. I., Bloody Mannequin Orchestra, Void, Second Wind, and many more.

New Scream/Soulside Split 7"

09.03.26

Scream and Soulside first played together at the Cubby Bear in Chicago in July 1988. After a few more shows together that year, they didn’t share a stage again until July 2022, at the Inne Brzmienia festival in Lublin, Poland. There in Poland the two bands met minds, and a match was struck. Soulside and Scream soon released new albums on Dischord Records, then toured together in the US and Europe in 2023 and 2024. This 7" is a gathering of forces and musical admiration to spread a message of love and a lifelong commitment to the struggle for true American justice.
“Laissez-Faire” was written by Scream and first appeared on Still Screaming (Dischord, 1983). This version is performed by Soulside and was recorded and mixed in June 2025. “Reconstruction” was written by Soulside and first appeared on A Brief Moment in the Sun (Dischord, 2022). This version is performed by Scream and was recorded in September 2024.

The 7" is available now to pre-order.
